Alpha Intact II

Identify A - J.

1. Although ‘A’ was incorporated in the state of New York on June 16, 1911 as the ‘B’, its origins can be traced back to developments at the close of the 19th century. For example, the first dial recorder was invented by Dr. Alexander Dey in 1888, and Dey's business became one of the building blocks of ‘B’. Similarly, the Bundy Manufacturing Company was incorporated in 1889 as the first time recording company in the world, and it, too, later became a key component of ‘B’.

2. ‘C’ introduced the motto, 'D' which later became a widely known symbol of ‘A’.

3. Fortune magazine once called ‘E’ "the greatest capitalist who ever lived." ‘E’ was the chairman and chief executive officer of ‘A’ from 1956 - 71. ‘E’ remained a member of board of directors of ‘A’ until 1984, taking time out from 1979 to 1981 to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union.

5. ‘A’ has often been described as having a sales-centric or a sales-oriented business culture. The current CEO, ‘F’, for example, joined the company as a salesman and, unusual for CEOs of major corporations, has no MBA or postgraduate qualification.

6. ‘A’ has been nicknamed ‘G’ (for its official corporate color) and ‘H’ is their corporate anthem.

7. ‘I’ is largely credited with turning around fortunes of ‘A’. In his memoir, Who Says Elephants Can't Dance?, ‘I’ describes his arrival at the company in April 1993, when an active plan was in place to disaggregate the company.

8. In 2002, ‘A’ sold its hard disk operations was to ‘J’.
